15mm ball valve with compression ends, fitted in a 15mm pipe run to shut off or open the water flow.

A ball valve is a shut-off valve that opens and closes with a quarter turn. This one has a compression connection on each end for 15mm pipe, so it is fitted into the line by tightening the nuts with a spanner rather than by soldering.
It is used to isolate a section of pipework or an appliance for maintenance.
